Fish Data : Channa pleurophthalmus (Bleeker, 1851) , Ocellated Snakehead


 


Species name: Channa pleurophthalma

Synonym: Ophicephalus urophthalmus; Ophicephalus spiritalis

Common name: Ocellated Snakehead

Family: Channidae

Order: Perciformes

Class: Actinopterygii

Maximum size: 40 cm / 16 inches

Environment: freshwater

Origin: Rivers of Southeastern Sumatra; Kapuas and Barito basins of Kalimantan

Temperament: Predatory

Company: Channa pleurophthalma (Ocellated Snakehead) should be kept with fish of equal size.

Water parameters: Temperature 22-28˚C / 72-82˚F; pH 6-7.5

Yellow Area is the place that have this fish in the nature


   These fish is a Predator fish that like to eat small live animals in the water 

, They can housed with same kind of Fish that similar aggression  , we can 

kept them in the water plant tank because they did not destroy water  plant in 

the tank , They need some of hiding spot , That make them feel relax and 

happy. They like many oxygen in the water  so you should prepare a good air 

pump and great water condition for their good health. Their Tank size should

be about more than 36 Inch.
